MX-12 Flies in Support of California Counter-Drug Operation

SANTA ROSA, California (July 31, 2009) – The L-3 Sonoma MX-12 was selected by the Patriot Technologies Group, (PTG) to provide mission surveillance for operation Save Our Sierra (SOS).
The counter-drug operation, part of a massive sweep starting in mid-July, included more than 300 agents from 17 federal, state and local agencies.  Agents spent 10 days targeting and eliminating marijuana fields in Fresno County's remote forest locations.
The PTG Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) was configured to assist America’s law enforcement and homeland security organizations.  “We are honored to participate in this effort to secure the public lands of Fresno County from marijuana” said PTG CEO Dan Caine.    The MX-12 was selected for this operation based on its ability to provide covert standoff range when flying on smaller ISR platforms.
According to Fresno County sheriff's Margaret Mims, “the operation destroy over three hundred thousand plants worth over one billion dollars at street value.  Additionally, agents arrested eighty-three people and seized dozens of weapons”.
