MX-12i Rollout Featured at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI)
SANTA ROSA (August 21, 2009) – L-3 Sonoma’s new MX-12i was featured at AUVSI's Unmanned Systems North America 2009 conference in Washington, D.C. from August 10th to the 14th.
The MX-12i offers the imaging performance of a standard 100lb EO/IR system in a compact 12 inch, 46 lb turret. Its cost effective design features industry leading stabilization, large aperture optics, and optional IMU based geo-location. This allows the MX-12i to outperform any other small turret in its class.
“The MX-12i allows military, government, and law enforcement operators to see farther and make earlier, more confident decisions, day or night”, stated Dom Houlemard, Vice President of Business Development at L-3 Sonoma. “The MX-12i also features integrated support electronics, removing the need for a separate Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) and associated racking and cables from the turret installation”. L-3 Sonoma is currently taking orders for the MX-12i, with system deliveries starting in January 2010.

MX-12i™ IMAGING SYSTEM
Sonoma EO’s most advanced, cost effective system, the MX-12i, is specifically designed and optimized to meet the needs of military and airborne law enforcement professionals. The MX-12i is able to detect man sized targets from several miles away, in total darkness and even in less-than-ideal weather conditions. Its exceptional 5-axis gyro-stabilization, patented high performance infrared optic and high power illuminator provide large turret performance in a small, lightweight, low-cost system.
With an overall weight of less than 50 lbs, the MX-12i can be installed either centerline or side-mounted on both rotary and fixed wing platforms where compact, high-performance systems are needed. No additional or add-on vibration isolation mounts are required for the MX-12i. It is also compatible with most industry-leading avionics equipment such as LOS/BLOS datalinks, searchlights, moving maps, GPS, radar and intercom systems.
