L-3 Ocean Systems' Mark 8x (Mk 8x) Expendable Mine Destructor (EMD) is a small, self-propelled device that seeks out and destroys seabed, moored and floating sea mines. The Mk 8x features fully automatic operation from launch to target impact with minimal operator workload and training requirements. A bi-directional fiber-optic link provides real-time, high-resolution video to the operator. The Mk 8x is deployable from surface ships, helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, and RHIBs. It is inherently streamlined and rugged. The Mk 8x is designed to be effective in real operational environments, including near zero visibility and in currents.
