Cable Repair and Jointing Services
                         
OVERVIEW
L-3 MariPro has developed a modular cable repair and jointing system based on our successful ship-of-opportunity installation concept. A purpose-built, fully outfitted repair and jointing van can be easily transported to a depot and mobilized aboard a vessel. The van is a 6.1 meter, (20 ft) ISO container and is equipped with tools and supplies for on-site cable jointing and repair operations. Available equipment includes fusion splicers, OTDR’s, optical power meters, UQJ/UJ tool kits, swage crimpers, helium leak detectors, injection mold machines, presses, epoxy and urethane encapsulation potting materials, etc. This reduces costs by maintaining a minimum suite of equipment tailored specifically to the cable recovery, jointing, and/or repair task at hand.

CAPABILITIES         
L-3 MariPro maintains a staff of qualified jointers and offers jointing services for a wide variety of custom cable joints and mechanical termination assemblies. Innovative custom designs have been developed for deep ocean applications with typical life spans of 20 years or greater. In addition, application of Universal Quick Joints (UQJ) and other commercially available Universal Joints (UJ) are also a capability. The proprietary designs include mechanical, copper and fiber terminations. Extreme long life designs include water block sealing on multiple levels of the cable including the jacket, copper and fiber conductors. Cables and components that have been jointed include SX, SD, SL, multiple armoring, loose tube and K-tube. L-3 MariPro also specializes in jointing cables of different construction types to each other.
