Give your ship or squadron personnel the best training against airborne threats. L-3
Flight international has provided the U.S. Navy with realistic threat simulation, AIC
training, tracking exercises, and targets for surface and air firing for more than 25 years.
Each of our Learjets is capable of high subsonic speeds and is specially modified to
carry threat emulators and EW equipment to provide realistic threat simulation. Crews are
prior military with backgrounds in the TacAir communities of the U.S. Navy and Air Force. Each
is well versed in current tactics and capabilities.
A typical fighter profile is flown at 21,000 to 33,000 feet at .6 to .79 Mach. Our Learjets
can remain on station for 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Multi-ship flights can present a variety of tactical
formations as either a single group or multiple groups in range, echelon, or azimuth. The groups
can maneuver to change the presentation or create tactical challenges for the air controller such
as beams, drags, offsets, pincers, double pincers, or other maneuvers as requested by the customer.
Threat simulation and jamming for tracking exercises are provided with AST-6, ALQ-167, and
TACTS pods. Recordable GPS can be carried for post flight reconstruction or debriefing.
Banner and IR targets for air-to-air exercises are flown in circular, squirrel cage,
butterfly, and tactical intercept to circular patterns. Banner profiles are from 10,000 to
14,000 feet altitude, 200 to 240 KIAS.
Eleven types of surface-to-air targets are towed from the MTR-101 pod at 200 to 3,000 foot
altitudes, with beam and quarter runs. For ships not at sea, Air Controller Proficiency / Training
may be accomplished from shore radar facilities.
