Thales Paragon Transmitter,
Featuring L-3's CEA 130, Named Digital TV Magazine's
Pick of the NAB2003 Show
April 2003
Digital
TV Magazine recognized the Thales Paragon Transmitter
for the Pick of the NAB2003 Show as the best new product in
its class. The Paragon transmitter uses L-3's CEA 130 Constant
Efficiency Amplifier, the only MSDC IOT operating in television
stations throughout the United States today. New Paragon installations
are scheduled for WDSE, Duluth, MN; KLRU, Austin, TX; KVIE,
Sacramento, CA and WFSB, Hartford, CT.
The CEA 130 is a five-stage,
oil-cooled multistage depressed collector IOT that provides
nearly constant efficiency at powers ranging from as little
as 15 kW to as high as 30 kW. Its patented oil-cooled technology
avoids the use of DI water and the effects of electrolytic
corrosion found in high-voltage systems that use water. The
PAO oil used on the CEA provides years of trouble-free life
as evidenced by the millions of transformers and other electronic
devices that rely upon oil as their primary coolant.
L-3 Electron Devices' CEA is
in full production and is now shipping to transmitter OEMs
in the U.S. For more details, contact Steve Bliek at 570-326-3561,
