L-3 COMMUNICATIONS DISPLAY SYSTEMS DELIVERS E-2C
FLAT PANEL DISPLAYS
ALPHARETTA, GA, October 31, 2003 — L-3 Communications Display
Systems (L-3 Display Systems), a division of L-3 Communications
(NYSE: LLL), announced today that it has delivered the initial
17" color flat panel AMLCD-based displays for the E-2C Group
II Enhanced Main Display Unit (EMDU) Upgrade Program, replacing
the Cathode Ray Tube displays used on earlier versions of the EMDU.
Under the terms of this contract, L-3 Display Systems will deliver
over 150 EMDUs during the life of the upgrade program.
These next-generation EMDUs offer significant reduction in aircraft
weight (reduced by 180 lb), reduced power, improved reliability
and maintainability, higher resolution and brightness and improved
life cycle costs. In addition, the EMDUs provide situational awareness
information, including radar, identification-friend-or-foe and
other tactical information.
“L-3 Display Systems has provided EMDUs for the past 15
years,” said Bob McGill, president of L-3 Display Systems. “L-3
has unmatched company knowledge and a history of meeting the unique
requirements associated with the E-2C.”
