L-3 Communications Display Systems Wins $17 Million Contract to Provide
Cockpit Displays for C-130J-30 and KC-130J Aircraft

NEW YORK, NY, September 23, 2003 — L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its Display Systems division (L-3 Display Systems) has been awarded a multi-year contract from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, a business area of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT), to provide cockpit displays for C-130J-30 aircraft for the U.S. Air Force and KC-130J aircraft for the U.S. Marine Corps. This contract is valued at over $17 million and will be completed over the next five years.

Under the terms of the contract, L-3 Display Systems will produce four different types of advanced displays for the C-130J-30 and KC-130J aircraft. Three of the four display types will show mission-critical data consisting of communication, navigation, radar and engine status, which will be provided to the aircrew via a MIL-STD-1553 interface with the aircraft mission computer. These three displays will be used in various combinations in each aircraft cockpit, with a combined total of seven displays per cockpit, depending on aircraft configuration. The fourth type of display will be used in the aircraft cargo compartment to provide primary interface and control to the loadmaster for the Enhanced Cargo Handling System.

“We are proud to have earned this opportunity to extend our relationship with Lockheed Martin on the C-130J Hercules program,” said Bob McGill, president of L-3 Display Systems. “L-3 Display Systems is a leader in providing high-performance display systems for demanding environments, and we look forward to supporting the Hercules program with the latest in display technology well into the future.”

The C-130J-30 is the stretched fuselage version of the aircraft.
