Manufacturing
L-3 Display Systems is a vertically integrated, Lean manufacturer with focus on the capability to procure material, assemble, and test all electronic and mechanical subassemblies used in military and commercial display and processing products. The modern, environmentally controlled 53,000 sq. ft. facility is compliant to MIL-STD-454, MIL-STD-1686, MIL-STD-2000A, J-STD-001, and is ISO 9001:2000 certified.

L-3 Display Systems has a state-of-the-art surface mount technology process and assembles a wide variety of circuit card assemblies.  L-3 Display Systems also performs chassis, wire harness, and mechanical assembly required to support development, production, and overhaul & repair activities.  This support also includes field service when applicable.

L-3 Display Systems designs and manufactures all special test equipment required to support product testing. Test equipment includes HP3070 for in-circuit testing, twelve temperature chambers, and three vibration systems.

Production
L-3 Display Systems is a “Lean Sigma Enterprise” having embarked on its improvement journey in January 2001. Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma are the primary methodologies used to drive continuous process improvement in a metric driven organization.  L-3 Display Systems has implemented “Lean Sigma Practices” within its entire production value stream.  Manufacturing operations philosophy is to maximize benefits realized from a “pull” system within a visual cellular factory to establish continuous flow and one piece production.  Six Sigma tools are used to continuously reduce variation within operations processes.  Our philosophy of reducing non-value-added work and process variation increases the capacity to build avionics systems.  We continue to increase production capacity, improve quality, and lower cost every year with this continuous improvement philosophy.  The Lean production model shows our philosophy of using Lean Sigma manufacturing techniques throughout the organization.  With focus on the customer, built-in quality and just-in-time manufacturing are accomplished using the Lean principles.  The visual factory and a rigorous 5S housekeeping discipline are the foundation for our organization.
