As part of our Integrated Sustainment platform and an integral part of our portfolio of Engineering Services, TC3 is The Corrosion Control Component of our Total Life Cycle Systems Management (TLCSM) program provided by E&TS.

Corrosion Control begins during initial design or post-production sustainment of any system. Failure to control corrosion will lead to:

  • increased costs
  • mission impairment
  • reduced safety
  • negative environmental impact

Corrosion negatively impacts cost in a number of ways. It can reduce the performance quality of warfighting equipment, which may in turn generate the need for additional operational assets and resources. With the potential for corrosion, considerable downtime is required to detect and assess the presence of corrosion and its impending effects on this equipment. When corrosion is treated, the equipment requires additional downtime for maintenance. This reduced availability of equipment significantly affects readiness. To compensate for reduced readiness, the customer must procure additional equipment at a considerable cost. So there is a “cost multiplier” effect added operational costs, increased maintenance labor and spare parts, more repair equipment, and added warfighting equipment inventories contributing to increased cost and creating the potential for even more corrosion and its effects.

  • System Downtime reduced
  • Increased Operational support and uptime
  • Risk to the system due to invasive processes minimized
  • Hazardous wastes reduced
  • Application reduces process time
    - saves steps in the coating process
  • Intangible cost savings - operations are not impacted
  • Eliminates the use of out-dated special purpose painting materials.
  • Cost savings by eliminating unused materials with limited pot life or shelf life.
  • Reduction in Hazardous Waste storage and disposal costs.
  • Saves procurement time for special purpose materials.
  • Provides protection against surface damage; no chips or cracks.
  • Provides corrosion protection that can tolerate high temperatures.
  • Outsourcing provides the capability for dynamic workloads.
  • Reduces Transportation Limitations inherent with flammable materials.
  • Does not require induction or cure time.
  • Environmentally compliant, no VOC's.
  • Less sensitive to ambient conditions.
The cost of corrosion on operational safety can be immeasurable in terms of injury or death. While the impact of corrosion on physical infrastructure may not be as severe, reduced infrastructure readiness and safety affects mission and cost considerably. Despite this difficulty, determining the financial cost of corrosion is an essential component of the DoD's corrosion prevention and mitigation strategy. An example case study in cost avoidance realizing $313,346.00 in Life Cycle Cost Savings.

Application Highlights
  • EPA and OSHA compliant, safe application of materials
  • 30 year corrosion prevention experience and pedigree
  • 1:50 Savings Ratio - For every $1 dollar invested in corrosion prevent = $50
  • savings in infrastructure repair/replacement
  • Long-term protection of new materials before installation
  • Lifecycle support not just a one time job
