In the area of performance-based logistics (PBL) and sustainment - data is absolutely vital and the lifeline to Integrated Sustainment. Operational and maintenance data drives day to day decisions, helps drive spare parts usage and stocking levels, helps to predict impending system failure and is a major factor in tracking and determining daily and future sustainment costs. At E&TS, we understand the importance of data and metrics and we know that how this data is captured, managed and displayed is critical to decision makers who depend on an accurate representation of mission-critical information. As such, L-3 Com uses a variety of commercially available products to graphically display, analyze and communicate sustainment/maintenance data and the associated metrics in a high-end visualization environment. Our digital dashboards are designed to help managers and field personnel troubleshoot lifecycle system issues and to share quality information throughout the extended enterprise, right from the user's desktop or handheld device to future portable head-mounted display devices on the battlefield.
We use data visualization as a way to enhance Total Life Cycle Systems Management (TLCSM), current ISO 9001 or Lean Six Sigma quality management and control processes, achieving real-time connectivity between operational performance data and maintenance/logistics measurement data, while accessing quality data from networked computer resources, databases or equipment to qualitatively and quantitatively measure the operational health and status of the program.
Depending on the specific needs of our customers, E&TS will help design a data and operating environment that can quickly and easily create graphical reports that are portable, combining metrics, statistics, measurement inspection data and a variety of prognostics in meaningful graphical outputs and 3D geometry. Typical reports include standard charts and metrics, processes, statistical models and graphics, concepts, configurable statistical process control (SPC) charts, customized views of geometry, CAD, cross sections and text markups. Our visualizations are enhanced via interactive techniques with the ability to provide the information from multiple views.
