About Division: L-3 Communications Westwood Corporation is a provider of technology solutions for power generation, power distribution, and automation control systems in military and harsh environment applications. Westwood Corporation consists of three business units: MCII Electric, TANO-EDI, and NMP. MCII Electric specializes in providing ground support equipment for military applications including mobile power generator sets for U.S. Army, Air Force, and Marine Corp applications. TANO-EDI provides automation and controls equipment for military, marine and harsh environment applications. The TANO-EDI equipment spans from subsystem controls through complete turnkey propulsion systems. NMP (formerly Nelson Marine Products) is a provider of rugged power distribution equipment for the U.S. Navy and foreign Navy applications. This equipment includes medium voltage and low voltage switchboards, load centers, power and lighting panels, and communications switchboards.
About Area:
Job Responsibility: • Analyze Program technical requirements and develop program specific work breakdown structures and work schedules for system design team • Leads the overall system level desing, including: development of equipment, schematics, diagrams, reports, and sub-system specifications • Participates in the technical evaluation of major vendors • Responsible for detail design of electrical and electronic systems and subsystems for assigned program • Is primary technical Point of Contact (POC) for customer • Leads project team in development of all project documentation as required by the contract • Perform other technical project related duties as required
Job Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field; Marine, Electrical, or Mechanical. Electrical Engineering is preferred. • Minimum of 10 years in design of shipboard propulsion and control system. • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and ship drawings. • Familiarity with military specifications and ABS rules for shipboard systems. • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, is a must. • Familiarity with Autocad, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience with PLC system configuration and programming preferred. Experience with system testing and troubleshooting.
