BT FUZE PRODUCTS NEWS

July 08 - L-3 Communications has been awarded a $13.4 million second option release by the U.S. Army Sustainment Command at Rock Island Arsenal to produce M67 fragmentation hand grenades.

March 08 -  L-3 Communications announced that Tom Walsh, formerly the General manager of the KDI Precision Products (KDI), Cincinnati,OH, has been appointed president of both BT Fuze Products and KDI Precision Products.

February 08 - L-3 BT Fuze received an additional contract modification from U.S. Army Sustainment Command for  380,000 ea M935 mortar fuzes. The additional fuzes will be produced in FY09 and FY10 at L-3’s fuze manufacturing facility, KDI, in Cincinnati, OH.  

October 07 - L-3 BT Fuze received an award from U.S. Army Joint Munitions and Lethality, Life Cycle Management Command Acquisition Center (JM&L LCMC) to supply over 48,000 M762A1 Electronic Time Artillery Fuzes. The M762A1 is an inductively settable, electronic fuze acquired for the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps for use on 105mm and 155mm artillery projectiles.

May 07 - L-3 BT Fuze was awarded an option for the production of 105mm M467A1 Training Cartridges for the U.S. Amy's Brigade Combat Team's Stryker mobile gun system.

April 07 - L-3 Communications BT Fuze was awarded an option for the production of 491,190 M67 Fragmentation Grenades from the US Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island, IL. Contract completion is scheduled for July 09.

November 06 - L-3 BT Fuze was presented an award for Excellence in the Management of the 105mm Systems Programs award at Picatinny Arsenal.

November 06 - L3 BT Fuze Products has been selected by the US Army Sustainment command to produce the M935 Mortar Fuze for the USMC. The Award is for mortar fuzes used in the 60mm and 81mm mortar systems in both training and tactical missions.

October 06 - L-3 Communications BT Fuze was awarded the Phase II option for the M864E2 with the pyrotechnic self-destruct fuze (p-SDF) from the US Army RDECOM-ARDEC. This will be a qualification effort leading up to the Type Classification of the M864A2 projectile and the p-SDF. Contract completion is scheduled for June 07.

September 06 - The BT Fuze transition plan to relocate its manufacturing operations to L-3's KDI Precision Products in Cincinnati, Ohio remains on schedule. BT Fuze will continue to run all Marketing, Contracting, Program Management, Engineering, R&D, and Systems groups out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

August 06 - L-3 Communications announced that Joseph C. Homko has been appointed president of its KDI Precision Products (KDI) subsidiary. In addition to this new position, Mr. Homko will maintain his role as president of L-3 Communications' BT Fuze Products (BT Fuze) division.

August 06 - L-3 Communications BT Fuze Products has been selected by the U.S. Army ARDEC to produce the 105MM M1040 Canister Tank Round under a Multi-Year Contract. The award is for canister cartridges and cartridge cases for the M1040 system used by the Stryker Brigade.

July 06 - L-3 Communications BT Fuze Products has been selected by the U.S. Army's Field Support Command as systems manager for the M67 Hand Grenade program. The award is for a total possible value of $68M over four years.

July 06 - L-3 BT Fuze and the US Army conducted a successful 5-round ballistic test of artillery using BT Fuze's pyrotechnic Self Destruct Fuze (p-SDF) fired from of a 52 caliber gun for an international military customer. The p-SDF in this test had 100% functional reliability with no UXO.

May 06 - The U.S. Army at Picatinny Arsenal awarded BT Fuze an unprecedented fourth consecutive Commanders Trophy for its teamwork, schedule performance, and technical excellence in producing over 1.2 million M762A1/M767A1 Electronic Time Artillery Fuzes for the U.S. military. BT Fuze succeeded in producing 56 consecutive lots of fuzing without ballistic failure, and a remarkable 99.8% reliability rate.

February 06 - L-3 Communications BT Fuze Products announced that the U.S. Army successfully tested artillery employing BT Fuze Product's new self-destruct fuzes with "excellent results."

January 06 - L-3 BT Fuze and the US Army conducted a successful 3-round ballistic test of artillery using BT Fuze's pyrotechnic Self Destruct Fuze (p-SDF) fired from of a 52 caliber gun for an international military customer. The p-SDF satisfied both the performance and UXO requirements.
