View the Data Sheet (pdf)

Lightweight Fire Control System (LWFCS) Benefits

  • Increased firepower and lethality
  • Greater gun crew situational awareness and survivability
  • Rapid target engagements
  • Increased capability day or night
  • Greatly reduced ammunition costs

Day or Night Operation

  • Daylight range finding, target engagement, and situational awareness are aided by a high resolution 640 x 480 daylight sensor.
  • For night operations, LWFCS incorporates a 320 x 240 25 micron uncooled thermal sensor.
  • Both sensors use a common 640 x 480 helmet mounted video display with corrected aimpoint and  annotated system information. The LWFCS is designed to support remote operation.

Field Proven Performance Increases

Field testing by the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps demonstrated that LWFCS  prototype units increased the probability of a first burst hit P(h) from 3% to 54% at 1,000 meters using military gunners and the Mk19 GMG.

Laser Precision Targeting

LWFCS provides precise pointing accuracy in battlefield conditions. For fast, accurate gunner operation, LWFCS provides:

  • High resolution daylight and uncooled thermal imaging for long-range target recognition and surveillance
  • Eye-safe laser rangefinder to 5km
  • Ballistic correction for target range, air temperature, weapon cant, and atmospheric pressure
