L-3 Brashear Selected as Subcontractor on Urban Terrain Target Designator Program

PITTSBURGH, PA, May 1, 2007 – L-3 Communications Brashear (L-3 Brashear), a division of L-3 Communications, today announced that The Pennsylvania State University Electro-Optics Center (PSU-EOC) has selected L-3 Brashear as the subcontractor on the Urban Terrain Target Designator (UTTD) program.  L-3 Brashear will design, develop and deliver a brass board small arms weapon-mounted system that is capable of acquiring and observing targets under day and night conditions, providing accurate targeting information to the operator and determining accurate target location.  The system will include an integrated rangefinder, a target location module, a tactical computer and a communications link to transfer coordinates to a remote location.
During Phase I, L-3 Brashear will provide a conceptual design and one brass board.  “This is an important program because it provides the Marine Corps highly accurate target locating capability in a small, light package and grows our relationship with the PSU-EOC,” said Fernando Faria, President of L-3 Brashear.
Headquartered in Pittsburgh PA, L-3 Brashear is dedicated to meeting the challenges of unforgiving environments and applications for the commercial and defense markets.  Brashear’s electro-optical and electro-mechanical systems and instrumentation provide precision tracking and pointing, fire control and directed energy and large optics solutions.

Headquartered in New York City, L-3 Communications employs over 63,000 people worldwide and is a prime system contractor in aircraft modernization and maintenance, C3ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) systems and government services.  L-3 is also a leading provider of high technology products, subsystems and systems.  The company reported 2006 sales of $12.5 billion.
