L-3 Brashear Announces New Division
President -
Fernando Faria
Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, February 28, 2005: L-3
Brashear today announces a new division President -
Mr. Fernando Faria. Mr. Faria joins L-3 Brashear with
29 years experience in the defense business, having
spent considerable time in all facets of program
operations.
Most recently, Fernando worked at BAE SYSTEMS
Information & Electronic Warfare Systems as the Deputy
General Manager of Mission Electronics (IEWS). IEWS
is a major producer of aircraft self-protection
systems and tactical surveillance and intelligence
systems for all branches of the armed forces. Part of
BAE SYSTEMS North America, other major business areas
include microwave, missile and space electronics,
infrared imaging, and automated planning systems.
While at BAE SYSTEMS, Fernando was responsible for the
organization, direction, and control of all aspects of
his business area. He provided executive leadership
in the development of operating goals and strategies,
division cost reduction initiatives, and new concepts
in special systems designed to improve division
performance.
During the last 29 years, Fernando worked on various
EO/IR programs, including Infrared Line Scanners,
Forward Looking Infrared Systems (FLIR), space based
instruments such as GOES Imager and Sounder
Instruments and the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder
(AIRS). Most recently, he has been involved with
Missile Seekers like Theater High Altitude Defense (THAAD)
Seeker and Advance Precision Weapon Systems (APKWS).
Throughout his career, Fernando received many awards
including the Technical Achievement Award, the
Technical Leadership Award, Nova Award for Leadership
and, most recently, the 2003 Chairman's Award for
Innovation.
