Over 29 civil aircraft have been downed by IR MANPADS threats. Over 65% of all aircraft losses since 1975 have been due to IR missile threats. Many Heads-of-State are now acquiring and integrating self-protection equipment into their personal aircraft to counter these threats.

Realizing the growing need, importance and demanding performance requirements necessary to protect large civil aircraft, L-3 AVISYS has successfully acquired the commitments of support from BAE SYSTEMS, EADS, Thales, Armtec and Alloy Surfaces to provide their best Infrared Countermeasure (IRCM) subsystems for integration into our WIPPS and CAPS suites of equipment, providing the most advanced capability to protect world leaders from this very robust and pervasive threat.

WIPPS, MAPS and CAPS2 integrate today's best performing missile warning subsystems, a threat adaptive countermeasures dispenser subsystem, and state-of-the-art infrared threat decoys to provide combat-proven, long-term protection for large, high value aircraft and civil/military crews/passengers.
