The System
The TCAS 1500 system is capable of displaying Mode S equipped aircraft up to 40 nautical miles (nm), while displaying ATCRBS equipped aircraft at ranges up to 20 nm. In addition, the system generates advisories on targets up to 15.7 nm away and can give advisories on any transponder equipped aircraft transmitting an altitude code.

L-3 Communications system is designed to handle aircraft closure rates up to 1,200 knots and vertical rates up to 10,000 feet per minute. TCAS 1500 is capable of tracking up to 50 aircraft and perform reliably at aircraft densities up to 24 aircraft within 5 nm.

Cautionary display of potential collision occurs within 45 seconds before predicted convergence.

Aircraft Applications
Situational awareness has become a necessity today with the increase in aircraft traffic operating in closer proximity at higher speeds. The TCAS 1500 is the latest technologically advanced TCAS I system available in the market place today with an unmatched upgrade path. The TCAS 1500 is for turboprops, business jets, and helicopters that do not fall under the TCAS II or ACAS II mandates.

The TCAS 1500 has been certified to meet the TCAS I Minimum Operation Performance Standards (MOPS), C-118.

TCAS Package
The TCAS 1500 system is easy to install and provides industry standard interfaces. The TCAS 1500 system includes a TCAS computer (receiver/transmitter), directional antenna, system controller, 3 ATI display unit and Diversity Mode S Transponder Unit.

The Upgrade
The TCAS 1500 was designed with future growth in mind, whether through the incorporation of ADS-B and Flight ID functionality into the existing product or by upgrading to a fully compliant TCAS II/ACAS II system. The upgrade to a TCAS 2000 system is easily accomplished by simply sending the TCAS 1500 computer unit to an L-3 Communications' Service Center for a firmware upgrade. No other expensive aircraft installation modifications are required for the upgrade from a TCAS I to a TCAS II system.

TCAS 1500
A low-cost alternative for Airborne Traffic Advisories
ACSS' TCAS 1500 Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System is a low-cost alternative for light airplane and helicopter operators in need of TCAS I capability. As a leader in TCAS technology, ACSS' TCAS 1500 follows our highly successful TCAS 2000, currently flying in thousands of air transport and business jets around the world.

TCAS 1500 uses the same receiver/transmitter (R/T) unit as the TCAS 2000, modified for TCAS I operation, making it easily upgraded to TCAS 2000. The R/T computes range, relative altitude and bearing of nearby aircraft. It determines if nearby aircraft have collision potential and provides visual and aural advisories to alert pilots.

TCAS 1500 interfaces with the same displays, antennas and ACSS transponder as the TCAS 2000. In addition, TCAS 1500 is highly reliable and flexible, and allows for easy installation.
