PHOENIX, May 19, 2003 – ACSS, an L-3 Communications & Thales
Company, has entered into a license agreement with PENTAR avionics, a
Seattle-based manufacturer of aviation datalink products, to develop,
manufacture, support and market the CMS-1000. The CMS-1000 is an integrated,
low cost communications management system that combines communications
management, VDL-2 radio and display in one unit. The CMS-1000 is anticipated
to earn technical standard order authorization from the Federal Aviation
Administration in June 2003.
“The CMS-1000 provides a fully–functional
and affordable VDL-2 datalinking capability in one easy to install package,”
said Joe Hoffman, ACSS president. “It employs advanced processing
that means lower connect fees with the service providers.”
The CMS-1000 is a state of the art, high performance flight
deck data communication system that enhances flight operations by giving
crew access to ACARS and non-ACARS networks for messaging, ATS, weather
and other services. The CMS-1000 integrates a full-function CMU, VDL Mode
2 digital radio, and Control Display Unit (CDU), offering operators an
unparalleled combination of functionality and value in a small package.
The CMS-1000 is the flagship of a product family, which will include a
stand-alone CMU, CDU, and VHF Data Radio.
