ACSS MANUFACTURING/REPAIR & OVERHAUL EMPLOYEES
EARN IPC CERTIFICATION

-- Operation Earns an Elite Distinction in Quality Manufacturing--

PHOENIX, January 15, 2003 – All employees from the manufacturing, repair and overhaul, and manufacturing engineering areas of ACSS have now been certified in IPC-A-610C Acceptability for Electronics Assemblies and J-STD-001C Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies. ACSS, an L-3 Communications & Thales Company, is a high-technology designer, developer and manufacturer of safety avionics equipment for commercial and military aircraft.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for us,” said Joe Hoffman, president of ACSS. “To have all of our people certified puts us in an elite category and enables us to take our operation to the next level as part of achieving an AS9100-registered quality manufacturing process.”

The Technical Activities Executive Committee of the IPC adopted principles of standardization as a guiding principle for their standardization of Quality Manufacturing in 1995. The standards show relationship to Design for Manufacturing and Design for the Environment that result in:

• Decreased time to market
• Simplified language for manufacturing documents
• Improved end-product performance
• A feedback system providing information for future improvement

IPC is recognized as the standard for the aviation industry and is used as a method of attaining quality products. For ACSS, it is another important step towards achieving Technical Service Order (TSO) certification for its products.
