L-3 employees mourn the loss of Frank C. Lanza, the company's chairman, chief executive officer and one of its founders, and they extend their deepest condolences to the Lanza family. Mr. Lanza passed away on June 6, 2006.

Tributes to Mr. Lanza and his legacy have poured in from many business and government leaders as well as the financial and defense media. Mr. Lanza has been described as a defense industry advocate for innovation, excellence and personal integrity. Also noted was Mr. Lanza's extraordinary leadership in building two great defense companies - Loral and L-3 Communications.

Mr. Lanza was regularly called on by financial news television networks and defense reporters to share his insights on the future of the defense industry and the global war on terror. They appreciated his candor, his encyclopedic knowledge of the industry and his genius for crystallizing the direction that the industry should take.

Just as important, Mr. Lanza will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to building businesses that supported U.S. and allied military forces. He will be missed by all those who knew and collaborated with him through the four decades he worked in an industry he loved and which greatly admired him.
