In 1997 Ten Business Units Divested by Lockheed to form L-3 Communications
CONIC & Telemetry and Instrumentation were two of the original ten business units; later combined to form L-3 Telemetry-West
October of 2001 - L-3 Communications announced the
formation of Telemetry-West, which combined two of
its San Diego-based telemetry divisions into a single
company capable of providing a full range of telemetry
and terrestrial communication solutions.
- Conic, a world-leader in airborne telemetry, space
TT&C, tactical receivers, tactical receivers,
HF/SSB, and microwave radios
- Telemetry & Instrumentation, a pacesetter in
ground telemetry components and turnkey systems
The creation of L-3 Telemetry-West capitalized on
intercompany synergies and was a direct response to
the telemetry industry's increased need for full spectrum
product suppliers.
The division established its headquarters at the site
of Conic's L-3 owned engineering and manufacturing
facility in the heart of industrial San Diego.
