Space & Navigation Division Awarded
Follow-on Space Shuttle Contract From United Space Alliance
BUDD LAKE, NJ, May 10, 2004 — L-3 Communications Space & Navigation
(L-3 S&N), a division of L-3 Communications Corporation (NYSE:LLL),
announced today that it has been awarded a significant follow-on
contract from United Space Alliance (USA) to provide sustaining
engineering, production and pre- and post-launch support of the
Space Shuttle program through April 2006.
L-3 S&N supports USA’s Space Shuttle operations with
a combination of hardware upgrades and engineering programs along
with its Integrated Electronics Assembly (IEA). The IEA is the
only electrical interface between the orbiter and the Solid Rocket
Boosters’ (SRB) operational flight system, supporting critical
operations such as ignition, thrust vector control, SRB separation
and parachute deployment.
