L-3 Electron Devices Announces New Ka-Band Power Amplifier

SAN CARLOS, Calif., April 13, 2009 – L-3 Electron Devices (L-3 EDD) announced today the introduction of its new M1300 Ka-band Millimeter-wave Power Module (MMPM) amplifier. The M1300 is capable of delivering 50 watts (CW) of RF output power over the 30.0 to 36.0 GHz frequency band and will feature other packaging, power and frequency band combinations.

Designed for 28 VDC airborne applications, the M1300 MMPM is housed within an 8.5” x 7.5” x 2.55” form factor and weighs in at less than 7.5 pounds. Prime power is nominally 300 watts, including integral active cooling, and the unit is entirely MIL-STD-461E compliant.

”The M1300 not only augments our industry-leading highpower microwave and millimeter-wave power amplifier product line, it also demonstrates our feature-rich and user-selectable subsystem capabilities,” said Rob Elmore, L-3 EDD’s vice president of programs and marketing. “This new capability gives higher level system designers the option to offload certain design tasks and/or subsystem element integration to us, which saves on cost and time. In most cases, it also improves overall size, weight and power efficiencies.”
