L-3 Communications Wins Competition
To Provide Cockpit Displays for S-3B Aircraft
NEW YORK -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- September 28,
1998 - L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) announced today that its
Display Systems division has been awarded a competitively procured
contract from Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP) to provide
the ASA-82 pilot and co-pilot replacement displays for the S-3B
aircraft. The multi-year contract is valued in excess of $10.8 million
and is expected to be completed by September 2001. Under the contract,
L-3 will manufacture ruggedized, high resolution, active matrix
liquid crystal flat panel displays. The 10.4" (pilot) and 13.3"
(co-pilot) displays offer wide dimming ranges with true sunlight
readability and night vision goggle compatibility. The S-3B will
utilize the L-3 displays for precision targeting, tactical plots,
and viewing of sensor data.
