L-3 Communications Announces
Expansion of Alpharetta, Georgia Facility
Alpharetta, GA, January 27, 1998 - L-3 Display
Systems, a division of L-3 Communications Corporation, announces
the commencement of construction of a 53,000 sq. ft. addition to
the current facility located in Alpharetta, Georgia. The new addition
will house the Operations branch of L-3 Display Systems.
"The new building addition will more than double
the size of our present facility in Alpharetta, and will relocate
approximately 160 jobs to the community", said the company president,
George Lombard. The relocation of the Operations branch to Alpharetta
will occur in August 1998. "We will have under a single roof one
of the nation's most modern, full service, avionics display systems
companies", Lombard added.
Upon completion of construction, total employment
at the Alpharetta facility will number approximately 300.
Expansion project partners include Randall Paulson
Architects Inc. headquartered in Roswell, Georgia and Beers/York
Construction Company Inc. headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina.
L-3 Display Systems specializes in the design,
development and manufacture of visual imaging systems and ruggedized
display systems for demanding environments and particularly challenging
applications. Product line includes active matrix liquid crystal
flat panel displays, cathode ray tube displays and display processor
electronics. L-3 has a legacy of more than 20 years in the development
and manufacture of avionics display solutions for both tactical
as well as surveillance aircraft, such as the E-2C Hawkeye, the
F-14 Tomcat, the S-3 Viking, the F-117A Stealth fighter, and the
V-22 Osprey. Other display system applications include the SH-60J
helicopter and the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) amphibious vehicle.
