Integrated Space Communications
L-3 Communication Systems - East (CS-E) has a heritage of over 40 years of
successful experience in
Integrated Space Communications system design and production. From Gemini
to Apollo, through Skylab, Apollo-Soyuz and the Space Shuttle, L-3 Communications
has provided critical communications equipment that has flown on every manned
mission and performed flawlessly.
The communications and external video equipment for the
International Space Station
has been delivered and is operating on-orbit.
Data Storage and
Recording Systems have flown on Tiros, ITOS, Nimbus, NOAA, LANDSAT and
international satellites. The first Solid State Recorders to fly in space using
plastic encapsulated memory modules were designed and developed at CS-E. The Solid
State LANDSAT and EOS-AM (TERRA) recorders are operational on-orbit and the Solid
State NOAA recorders are delivered and integrated on the spacecraft. L-3 Communications
has the
capabilities to provide
quality space systems. Our specialized avionics for space applications are used on the Delta IV
launch vehicles and the Missile Defense Agency's Ground Mid-course Defense booster launch vehicles.
