Based in Camden, NJ, Communication Systems - East, a division of L-3 Communications, specializes in the design, development and production of integrated communications systems supporting space, ground, air and naval operations next generation requirements.

Organized as four business areas, L-3 CS-E currently focuses on Information Assurance, Information Processing, Intelligence Integrated Communications, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Unattended Ground Sensors and Space Communications.

With a heritage of ten decades of accomplishment, we stand as part of L-3 Communications Corporation - a company with more than $14.9 billion in sales, approximately 65,000 employees and a ranking as the nation's 8th largest defense contractor.

Below is a summary of our key capabilities:

Information Assurance
CS-E has a long and exemplary history of delivering NSA certified High Assurance solutions to support U.S. National Security and Allied secure communication requirements. Over the past 55 years more than 700,000 CS-E designed Communications Security solutions have been fielded. These offerings support a wide variety of secure Voice, Data and Crypto Key Management applications and include: Large Systems and Subsystems; Strategic and Tactical; Airborne; Shipboard; Space; Network; and Portable/End User secure communication applications. Today, CS-E is the recognized leader in developing certified products that support the next generation signaling standards such as Secure Communications Interoperability Protocol (SCIP) and High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor Interoperability Specification (HAIPE® IS). CS-E's technical excellence has yielded the first ever-certified solutions in each format and a combined 200,000+ products compliant to these interoperable standards have been delivered to customers. CS-E is providing critical technology to support the embedment market by offering cryptographic modules and ASIC technologies. These embeddable solutions meet legacy and/or crypto modern COMSEC/TRANSEC requirements, are implemented in standard or customer specific packages, and support high performance, low power, small form factor, and even radiation-hardened applications.
HAIPE® is a registered trademark of the NSA.

Integrated Communications
Our rich experience in integrating communications as a single solution starts with the Integrated Radio Room for the Trident Submarine and continues with today's US Coast Guard's Deepwater program. Our unique approach to using off the shelf, open system standards provides a low cost, automated communications system that eliminates the need and cost of multiple stovepipe systems.

The MarCom® Integrated Digital Switch is the foundation of this single system approach. It is fielded on US Navy attack subs, Aegis DDG, CVN, LPD-17 and the newest US Coast Guard cutters.

Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Systems
CS-E has a distinguished history supporting critical aerospace communications and data storage projects. For over 50 years, CS-E has developed and supplied high reliability, mission-critical communication and data storage systems for a wide array of applications including communications on all human-tended space missions, avionics subsystems for missile and expendable launch vehicle systems, recording subsystems for space-based remote sensing systems, and ruggedized ISR recording systems for high data rate airborne ISR platforms. In addition to our design and product development and delivery expertise, CS-E also provides post delivery support through an established depot maintenance capability.

We also work extensively with U.S. Government agencies as a primary supplier of signal intelligence and signal processing systems as well as mission management and control. We also have developed and produced a COTS Channel Processor (COTS-CP) for those applications where both very high signals processing rates and very high input/output rates are required. ELINT systems for strategic and tactical applications have been deployed in Aerostats, Vans, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and remote site locations.

Our Annapolis Junction MD facility is a proven source of local support service providing specialized Engineering and Systems solutions to the COMINT and Information Assurance communities and Prime contractors. Recent activities include Legacy System Sustainment, Service Based Architecture, QRC, Software Development using JAVA, C, C++, plus Algorithm Porting and Control Software.

RF Systems
RF Systems encompasses militarized tactical battlefield communication and intelligence systems and an Integrated Depot that supports all CS-E products. Tactical battle field products include Mission Module Command Posts for the Army's heavy and medium force vehicles, the REMBASS II unattended ground systems utilizing state-of-the-art algorithms and future product enhancements.
