High performance integrated communications supporting command and control operations is our core competency. Command and control requires multiple interior and radio circuits to coordinate critical intelligence, combat and multi-mission operations. It involves secure and non-secure communications with many operators controlling complex events. Despite modern open systems architectures, these communication circuits still require the operators to manage different communication devices taking valuable time to decide which one to use. Coordination with the radio technicians is also required involving a person in the loop, further slowing the communication process. Integrated and automated communications approaches by L-3 Communication Systems - East has been successfully deployed on USS LINCOLN (CVN 72), Aegis Class DDGs, USS San Antonio class of LPDs, Naval Air Warfare Center Test Range, USS Los Angeles class radio rooms, and more recently, for full automation and integration of the US Coast Guard's new Deepwater platforms. The result is a highly automated radio room controlled by the command and control operator, not by the radio technician. Information is routed automatically from the radio room to the people that must execute the missions. Our systems have achieved both high performance and lower costs.
