ALST Receives Contract from Boeing

The Boeing Company has selected Advanced Laser Systems Technology, Inc (ALST) to develop a laser rangefinder for the Orbital Express Space Operations Architecture program. Boeing is the prime contractor for Orbital Express, a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) sponsored program that is focused on reducing overall costs to space programs by extending spacecraft life through autonomous systems for refueling and reconfiguration.

ALST will develop a laser rangefinder that will be integral to robotic docking procedures for spacecraft. The ALST design for the space based laser rangefinder will be based on technology in its existing products that are employed in military as well as in search and rescue systems.
